- The shirt is “Battle Standard Blue,” representing the blue waters that our Mariners embarked on, and the uniform claims numerous features taken right from the Battle Standard.
- On the sleeves are the red and white stripes that are most dominant on the Battle Standard. These mimic the red and white stripes on the American Flag.
- The color of the numbers and words are the same as the gold fringe ribbons on the edges of the Battle Standard, these ribbons represent the various combat zones in which the Academy’s cadet-midshipmen served.
- The number 142 is featured on the back representing #OURAcademy’s 142 cadet-midshipmen who lost their lives in conflict during World War II.
- And lastly, on the back of the uniforms, above the numbers, as well as along the back of the helmets are the words “Last Full Measure.” This represents the ultimate sacrifices that the 142 ultimately made, including that of Edwin J. O'Hara, for which O’Hara Hall, which houses the USMMA Athletics Department, is named after.
